December, 2011 Robert Shibatani developed the prototype Dynamic Flow Management Concept combining forced climate change-adjusted hydrology with instream ecosystem requirements and identifying potential real-time monitoring and post-implementation assessment schematics to gage "dynamic" efficacy.
January, 2012 The SHIBATANI GROUP is developing new approaches to integrating hydrologic basin response from bias-corrected, spatially downscaled forced climatic data.Several established empirical modules are being tested for scaling appropriateness.Improvements to snowmelt prediction from refinements in energy balance assumptions are being developed, primarily for the turbulent exchanges.Additionally, standard hyporheic exchange functions are being re-assessed in light of advanced knowledge in event and pre-event water separation from naturally occurring isotopic research.
A new suite of modeling platforms based on physical watershed response, adjusted for forced climatic drivers, will be developed and tested for several water districts.
February, 2012
The SHIBATANI GROUP is providing expert independent technical review of the water supply and long-term sustainability projections for the Los Robles Del Mar Specific Plan Annexation as proposed by the City of Pismo Beach on behalf of San Luis Obispo LAFCO.
February, 2012
The SHIBATANI GROUP is providing assistance to the El Dorado County Water Agency in developing public benefits and related technical information to support both the Agency's request for non-federal cost-sharing partner status under the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's SECURE Water Act, Basin Study Program. as well as the pending draft regulations and guidelines under preparation by the California Water Commission.
